Hydro Tasmania generates approximately 10,000 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity annually, from an integrated hydropower scheme located in high rainfall areas in the state of Tasmania, Australia. The scheme consists of 29 power stations, numerous lakes and over 50 large dams.
We supply renewable energy and peak power to the National Electricity Market (NEM), firstly to Tasmania and exporting to other states through Basslink, the undersea interconnector which runs under Bass Strait.
Hydro Tasmania is also a 50/50 joint venture partner with CLP Group of substantial wind farms in Tasmania and South Australia, through the renewable energy company, Roaring 40s.
